The Beach House (2020) Quick Review

"Director Jeffrey A. Brown's The Beach House draws more than a little inspiration from H.P. Lovecraft's The Colour Out of Space, and gives it an ecological spin. At least this one doesn't have Nicholas Cage's overacting."

Begotten (1990) Review

"What makes Begotten a truly unique film, is that for all its simplicity it achieves what most religious horror films fail in their overly ambitious approach. Faithful to the 'silent movie' there's no spoken dialogue, but there are no captions either (discounting a vaguely expository opening).

Regardless, Begotten is effective because it focuses on the non-human. God, Mother Earth and the Son of Earth are frightening spectres, but what happens to them is equally horrific."

Savage Harvest (1994) Review

"Savage Harvest is evocative of the days where you'd walk into your local corner shop and come out with the dodgiest-looking video tape grabbed from the back of some shelf. The sort of film you can sit and watch with a few beers, not worrying about getting invested."
